Outdoor Ed students take in gorge-ous views on first bushwalking camp
In week 9, our senior Outdoor Ed students spent 3 days hiking through bushland at Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges.
Starting at Mambray Creek campground, students trekked some 30km over 3 days to test the hiking, orienteering and camping skills they have been working on this term.
A huge highlight for the group was navigating through Alligator Gorge – an ancient canyon formed by Alligator Creek cutting through the dense rocks over millions of years.
Students showed incredible teamwork and responsibility throughout the camp by assisting each other with packing up/packing down base camp, checking in regularly with each other to monitor wellbeing and working through meal choices at dinner time.
This is the school’s first bushwalking camp with both mainstream and unit classes combined for one epic experience.
