SAATSA and Aboriginal Education News
Due to COVID-19, our academy was unable to participate in the PowerCup and SAASTA Shield carnival this year. Although 2020 was a difficult year for our students, they were still able to keep up with all learning expectations and complete the requirements of their SACE subjects and VET courses.
We'd also like to make special mention of Blayne O’Loughlin, who took out the academy's Sportsperson of the Year Award. Blayne will spend the next year preparing himself for the 2021 AFL draft. Goodluck Blayne!
In other exciting news, next year Para Hills High School will be introducing the SAASTA Connect program for our Indigenous students in years 8 and 9!
The program will include teaching of the Ngarrindjeri language and will be supported by Angela Giles, and local Ngarrindjeri woman. We will also be inviting local primary schools to participate in the program which will allow us to develop stronger partnerships within the local community.
From the entire Ab ED team, we wish you all Happy Christmas and New Years and look forward to seeing you in 2021!
